About BriarBase

BriarBase is a private collection and journaling service for adult tobacco pipe enthusiasts. You must be 21 or older to create or use a BriarBase membership.

Eligibility and accounts

You may use BriarBase only if you are at least 21 years old and can agree to these Terms. BriarBase relies on your self-attestation of age. It does not ask for a date of birth, government identification, identity documents, or third-party age-verification data.

Provide accurate account information, complete email verification when requested, and keep your sign-in credentials secure. Use only your own account, do not allow another person to misuse it, and do not access or attempt to access another member's account. Tell us promptly at info@vn-works.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

What BriarBase does

BriarBase helps members organize and journal their private pipe collections. Current features may include Pipe Passports, pipe photos and stories, Smoke history, Tobacco Cellar records, private notes, Community sharing, pipe rotation and rest recommendations, and printable or member-requested exports. Features may change as the service develops.

No tobacco sales or marketplace

BriarBase does not sell tobacco, process tobacco purchases, arrange transactions between buyers and sellers, or operate as a tobacco marketplace. No purchase is required to use an optional external resource link. BriarBase is a collection and journaling service, not a retailer or age-verification service for tobacco sales.

Your content and the permission needed to operate BriarBase

You retain ownership of the photos, stories, notes, collection details, and other content you submit to BriarBase. You give BriarBase a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, store, back up, technically process, copy, resize or re-encode images, privately display content to you, display content through Community features you explicitly enable, and produce exports you request. This permission exists only to operate, secure, maintain, and provide BriarBase and the sharing choices you select.

This permission does not grant BriarBase a right to sell your content, use it in advertising, train artificial-intelligence models on it, or commercially exploit it for an unrelated purpose. The permission ends when the content is removed from BriarBase, subject to reasonable technical processing, security or legal needs, and normal backup aging.

Content responsibility and acceptable use

You are responsible for content you submit and for having the rights needed to store or share it. Do not use BriarBase to submit, share, or transmit content that is illegal, infringing, abusive, threatening, malicious, deceptive, privacy-invasive, spam, or malware. Do not interfere with the service, evade access controls, probe for vulnerabilities without authorization, impersonate another person, scrape member-only content, or use BriarBase to harm another person or system.

Respect the privacy and intellectual-property rights of other members and third parties. If you believe content on BriarBase violates your rights, contact info@vn-works.com with enough information for us to understand and review the concern.

Community sharing

Your collection information is private by default. Community sharing is optional and occurs only when you deliberately enable an available sharing control. Current Community content is available only to authenticated, active BriarBase members; it is not presented as open-web public content.

You can stop eligible sharing through BriarBase. Unsharing prevents future access through BriarBase, but BriarBase cannot retrieve screenshots, downloads, printouts, or other copies that an authorized viewer independently retained while the content was shared. Do not share information that you are not comfortable making available within the current member Community.

External services

BriarBase may provide an optional link to Smokingpipes as an external informational resource. The current relationship is non-sponsored, non-advertising, non-affiliate, and uncompensated, and no purchase is required. BriarBase does not control Smokingpipes or another external site. When you leave BriarBase, the external site's own terms, privacy practices, content, availability, and purchasing rules apply.

Pipe recommendations and health boundary

Pipe rest and rotation recommendations are organizational suggestions about pipe care and collection workflow. They are not medical advice and do not determine whether tobacco use is safe for you. Tobacco use carries health risks. BriarBase does not diagnose, treat, or advise on a health condition; consult an appropriate health professional for medical questions.

Service availability and your copies

We work to keep BriarBase useful and available, but maintenance, security events, technical failures, and outages can occur. The service and its features may be corrected, changed, suspended, or discontinued. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability.

Maintain independent copies of content or records that are important to you. BriarBase may offer exports or printable materials, but those features do not replace your responsibility to keep appropriate independent copies.

Suspension and termination

BriarBase may restrict, suspend, or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address a violation of these Terms, misuse, a security risk, unlawful conduct, harm to another member, or a threat to BriarBase or its providers. When practical, we may use a narrower restriction or provide notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Immediate action may be necessary for urgent security, safety, legal, or operational reasons.

You may stop using BriarBase at any time. You may contact us about account or data removal, but deletion is handled manually and may require verification. Limited records or backup copies may persist temporarily when reasonably necessary for security, legal obligations, dispute handling, service integrity, or normal backup aging.

BriarBase is provided for personal informational and organizational use. It does not provide medical, legal, or commercial advice.

Changes to these Terms

Each Terms revision is identified by a version and effective date. Material changes may require you to review and accept a new version before continuing to use member features. Non-material corrections, such as formatting, accessibility, or typographical changes, may not require reacceptance. The version shown on the Terms page controls for that document.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
